Conducted at MI Da'watul Khoir in East Java, the research employed a qualitative case study approach utilizing in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentary analysis to investigate how this method integrates traditional Qur'anic learning with modern educational structures. Findings reveal that the Ummi method successfully maintains the spiritual and technical traditions of Qur'anic recitation through its systematic approach while innovating through standardized teacher certification, structured curriculum, and quality control mechanisms. The method demonstrates how traditional religious education can effectively adapt to modern institutional demands without compromising authentic Islamic knowledge transmission. Key innovations include its "mother-tongue" pedagogical approach, mastery-based learning system, and comprehensive teacher training protocol, which collectively address common challenges in Qur'anic education such as inconsistent teaching quality and lack of measurable outcomes. This research contributes to understanding how religious education traditions can evolve through socially innovative approaches that balance preservation with adaptation, offering insights for Islamic educational institutions seeking to enhance Qur'anic literacy while maintaining traditional authenticity. The study highlights the potential of methodologically grounded approaches to bridge traditional Islamic pedagogy with contemporary educational needs.
2025-10-30T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Muh Barid Nizarudin Wajdihttps://ejournal.galapublication.co.id/index.php/gjerd/article/view/29Menjembatani Tradisi dan Modernitas: Institusionalisasi Metode Tasmi’ di Pondok Pesantren Indonesia Kontemporer2025-11-18T01:24:03+00:00Yuli Marlinayulie.marlina@gmail.com
This qualitative study examines the institutionalization of the Tasmi’ method (a structured recitation test) at the Miftahul 'Ula Islamic Boarding School in East Java, Indonesia, as a strategic response to the challenges of maintaining tradition within a modern educational context. The research aims to analyze how this traditional Qur'anic memorization practice is formalized into a standardized, rule-based system within a contemporary pesantren. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the school's leadership and teaching staff, participatory observation of Tasmi’ activities, and document analysis. The findings reveal that the institutionalization process involves the codification of procedures (e.g., standardized error limits, formal schedules, and certification for 5-juz recitations), which serves to bridge traditional oral learning with modern demands for measurable quality and accountability. This formalization enhances the quality control of memorization while simultaneously preserving the core of the sanad-based (chain of transmission) tradition. The study concludes that the institutionalization of Tasmi’ represents a dynamic synthesis of tradition and modernity, allowing the pesantren to maintain its religious authority and pedagogical integrity while adapting its operational mechanisms to contemporary standards. This offers a replicable model for other Islamic educational institutions navigating similar pressures.
2025-10-30T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Yuli Marlinahttps://ejournal.galapublication.co.id/index.php/gjerd/article/view/30Disiplin sebagai Praktik Ibadah Sosial: Memaknai Interaksi dan Peraturan di Pesantren dalam Kerangka Maqashid Syariah2025-11-18T01:26:48+00:00Lilis Rahmawatielrahmawati22@gmail.com
This study re-examines the concept of discipline within Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) by framing it not merely as a regulatory mechanism but as a form of social worship (ibadah). Conducted at Ponpes Ar-Roudlhotul Ilmiyah in Nganjuk, Indonesia, the research investigates how interactions between female mentors (musyrifah) and students (santriwati), alongside institutional regulations, are internalized and practiced. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were gathered through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentary analysis. The findings reveal that the patterns of interaction ranging from one-way guidance to multi-directional and circular communication serve as a practical medium for instilling discipline. This disciplinary practice is then analytically framed within the higher objectives of Islamic law (Maqashid Syariah). The study argues that the disciplined routines and social compliance observed are not ends in themselves but function to preserve and nurture five essential human necessities: religion (hifz al-din), the self (hifz al-nafs), intellect (hifz al-'aql), progeny (hifz al-nasl), and wealth (hifz al-mal). The research concludes that discipline in this context transcends mere punishment and reward; it is a spiritually and socially oriented process aimed at cultivating pious individuals who contribute to a harmonious society, thereby positioning the pesantren as a vital institution for actualizing the holistic aims of Islam in the modern world
2025-10-30T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Lilis Rahmawatihttps://ejournal.galapublication.co.id/index.php/gjerd/article/view/32Peran Ibu Sebagai Madrasah Al-Ula Dalam Pendidikan Karakter Islami Anak Millenial2025-11-18T01:33:29+00:00Amiga Putri Minandaputriminanda213@gmail.com
This study examines the role of mothers as Madrasah Al-Ula in shaping Islamic character education for millennial children in Dusun Koripan, Desa Kampungbaru. The primary aim is to understand how mothers, as the first educators in the family, contribute to the development of Islamic values and character in children. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews with mothers, children, and local community members, and documentation of daily practices. The study finds that mothers in this community actively engage in imparting religious and moral education from pregnancy through early childhood. Despite facing challenges such as limited time and knowledge of formal character education methods, many mothers succeed in instilling values of honesty, discipline, and respect through everyday actions and religious practices. The research concludes that mothers play an essential role in character formation, but additional support through training and community collaboration is necessary to enhance their effectiveness. This study contributes to understanding the intersection of family roles, Islamic education, and character development in the millennial era
2025-10-30T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Amiga Putri Minandahttps://ejournal.galapublication.co.id/index.php/gjerd/article/view/33Peran Pendidikan Agama Islam Dalam Pembentukan Moral Dan Etika Generasi Muda2025-11-18T01:32:51+00:00Moh. Ali Fauzialifauzizefa@gmail.com
The rapid advancement of technology and globalization presents various challenges to the moral development of the younger generation. This study examines the role of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) in shaping the moral and ethical character of students at MAN 3 Nganjuk. The primary objective is to evaluate how IRE influences students' behavior, ethics, and social interactions. This qualitative research uses a case study approach, collecting data through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that IRE plays a significant role in fostering discipline, honesty, and responsibility among students, largely through curriculum integration, religious practices, and teacher modeling. However, challenges such as the influence of social media and global cultural trends that conflict with religious values were also identified. The study concludes that while IRE contributes positively to the moral development of students, greater collaboration between schools, families, and the community is essential to mitigate the negative external influences and strengthen the character-building process. The study emphasizes the need for continuous adaptation of Islamic education to ensure its relevance in addressing modern challenges
2025-10-30T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2025 Moh. Ali Fauzi
